Tabletop 1
A friend of mine needed a tabletop for his board games.
He already had the legs, and I offered to build a tabletop for him.
The whole process was quite simple.
The tabletop was supposed to be 2,40m x 80cm.
Due to its length and the need for it to be easily movable, I decided to build the table in two parts.
First, I had to acquire materials from the hardware store.
I purchased three beech plywood boards measuring 300cm x 1200cm, two smaller ones measuring 200cm x 600cm, two long MDF strips, and some miscellaneous items.
My plan was to glue the three large boards together and build a collapsible frame underneath.
While cutting the boards, I noticed that they were not 300cm wide but 5cm too small.
Therefore, I bought two strips of locust wood, which I intended to use as decorative strips around the table and between the boards.
I cut the two strips into thin strips using a table saw.
Once I had everything ready, I proceeded to glue the boards together.
After that, I trimmed the corners and attached the decorative strips around the table.
Next, I rounded the edges of the entire table.
I then aligned and screwed the base onto the tabletop.
Finally, I treated everything with two coats of hardwax oil.
The two halves of the table are held together with screws.
